‘Gray’ Imported Parrot Car Kits.

As a responsible installation company and member of the MESF board, we feel it’s important to highlight an age old problem with imported car kits; in particular Parrot ‘Gray’ car kits.

If you have been quoted for a like for like install and its significantly cheaper then pause for a second and ask yourself why and how?

Some companies have in the past taken advantage of the euro exchange and gone out and imported large volumes of Parrot car kits cheaper then UK stockist can buy. They are then creating an unhealthy price war to win your business.

That’s great news for the consumer in the short term but potentially bad news for you as well. Parrot will not warranty these car kits in the UK and more importantly these kits are loaded with different software! So if your parrot car kit was destined for the German market then its default language will be German.

Another point to consider is that these companies tend not to last the distance and have no association with Parrot UK. Will they still be helpful to you if your car kit develops a fault in 8 or 11 months down the line?

The Parrot Car Kit Company has now coded all their car kits worldwide, for the UK they stipulate ‘ZONE C intended for UK sale only’ look out for this and the 55 number in its barcode.
